The name Nordic Mobility Innovation Platform (NMIP) was inherited from the preproject, and was the formal name of the project when it started up October 2019.
But soon the partners agreed that a new name would benefit the project. A name that was easier to pronounce and which had a story to tell.
The NOMAD is an acronym for Nordic Open Mobility and Digitalization. The long title tells you that we will need to set focus on open mobility solutions and digitalization for Mobility-as-a-Service to succeed.
The NOMAD also has a meaning in itself and we like to think that mobility is essential for the modern age, where we use different transport modes every day to commute, errands, exercise and more. As a modern nomad – people will benefit from a MaaS roaming solution, where you can use your favorite mobility app where ever you are.
